The document was signed on Thursday in the presence of Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Makihara Hideki and Mozambique’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary José Maria da Silva Vieira de Morais.

It is worth noting that JOGMEC has been providing the equity financing to Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1, which holds a participating interest in the Rovuma Offshore Area 1 Block since 2008.

JOGMEC said on Friday that, in order to support the LNG project in Mozambique, the company was conducting capacity building to experts from Mozambican government in charge of oil and gas development projects.

So far, 136 Mozambican participants joined JOGMEC’s regular training courses for technical experts and LNG-customized courses for technical and non-technical experts held in Japan since the initial agreement on 2012.

To remind, the Mozambique LNG project final investment decision was made in June 2019. Together with the FID, the JOGMEC, INP, and ENH trio consented to renew the official document for HR development.

“JOGMEC is going to continue contributing to the human resources development for the growth of oil and gas industry and enhance the strong relationship with the Republic of Mozambique,” the company stated.

As for the project, the Anadarko-led Area 1 Mozambique LNG project will be Mozambique’s first onshore LNG development, initially consisting of two LNG trains with total nameplate capacity of 12.88 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields located entirely within Offshore Area 1.
