Keppel begins construction of supply vessels for Lukoil

In accordance with an Agreement on the classification of ships under construction, signed by RS and Keppel Nantong Shipyard in the spring of 2014, RS provides a full range of classification and statutory services during their construction. Survey during construction will be implemented by the RS Branch Office in China.

When the vessels comply with all applicable international requirements and RS rules, they will be assigned the class notation КМ✪ Arc4 [1] AUT1 ICS FF3WS DYNPOS-2 Supply Vessel.

Main particulars:

  • maximum length – 80.00 m
  • width – 16.50 m
  • depth – 6.20 m
  • summer draft – 3.80 m
  • deadweight – 1000 tons

The new vessels will join the fleet serving one of the largest Russian oil companies – LUKOIL. They are designed to supply resources to the Vladimir Filanovsky field development facilities in the northern part of the Caspian Sea and to ensure their safe operation. Completion of construction is scheduled for September 2015.

Ice model tests were successfully conducted on the hulls of this design in the ice model basin of Aker Arctic (Finland) in March 2014. The presence of Arc4 ice strengthening allows them to work effectively during the winter. The project also envisages equipping the vessels with systems to extinguish fires on fixed offshore platforms and at the transshipment terminal, as well as equipment to deal with oil spills.

Moreover, as part of the project to develop the Vladimir Filanovsky field and cooperation with LUKOIL a rescue vessel is being built at the Singapore shipyard Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd.
