GTT said it received this order in May 2022.

HHI will construct the two LNG carriers from the order, while the remaining two will be built by HSHI. Both shipyards are doing it on behalf of the same Asian ship-owner that remains undisclosed.

Under the order, GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will offer a cargo capacity 174,000 cbm each. Each will also feature the GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system.

The Korean shipyards will deliver the vessels between the first and the fourth quarters of 2025.

The order might be related to the South Korean shipbuilder Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) revealing in May it won a $910 million order to construct four new LNGCs. Specifically, KSOE said its units HHI and HSHI will each build two 174,000 cbm ships.
