The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has reported that Maersk Drilling’s jack-up drilling rig, Maersk Intrepid, has received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC).

'Maersk Intrepid' receives AoC

An Acknowledgement of Compliance is a statement from the PSA indicating that an offshore drilling rig is considered to be in compliance with relevant requirements in the petroleum activities regulations.

Maersk Intrepid is an XL Enhanced (XLE) harsh environment jack-up rig which has been customised for operations in the North Sea.

Maersk Intrepid will mobilize to the North Sea and start a four year firm contract with Total E&P Norge AS for drilling the demanding and complex wells on the Martin Linge field development in the Norwegian North Sea. The contract includes four one-year options. The estimated contract value for the firm contract is USD 550 million.

The XLE rig has a leg length of 206.8m (678ft) and is designed for year round operations in the North Sea, in water depths up to 150m (492ft).

After the AoC has been granted, the facility owner is responsible for ensuring that the organisation, management system and facility’s technical condition always comply with the regulations.

In connection with the AoC application for Mærsk Intrepid, the PSA carried out audits within several selected disciplines.
