Maersk Supply Service chooses new CFO

Danish offshore shipowner Maersk Supply Service (MSS) has elected a new chief financial officer (CFO) of the company.

MSS said on Wednesday that Karl Thorngren would take on the role of CFO in the company as of April 29, 2019.

Thorngren, currently CFO of Svitzer Australia, has held leadership positions within the field of corporate finance for 15 years and has worked within the maritime industry since 2010.

Regarding his appointment, Thorngren said: “l look forward to joining a company which is engaged in diversifying its business and delivering solutions to the energy sector. Ensuring the business services function supports Maersk Supply Service’s global operations in the best way possible will be paramount to the company’s success as it moves into new industries and segments.”

Before his role at Svitzer Australia, Thorngren was the head of M&A and projects at AP. Moller- Maersk, as well as a member of the Esvagt board of directors.

He replaces CFO Michael Krabbe who will move to a new role outside the company in January. As CFO, Thorngren will report to CEO Steen S. Karstensen and will be a member of the senior management team in Maersk Supply Service.

During the interim period, the CFO role will be covered by Mads Winther, senior VP, and head of strategy and M&A for the energy division of A.P. Moller- Maersk.
