The contract, awarded by South Korea’s POSCO International, is for the FEED services for a new compression platform, a bridge link, and modifications in the existing platform at the Shwe field, 44 miles (70 kilometers) offshore Myanmar.

McDermott did not go into details on the exact value of the contract which it described as a “sizeable” one. McDermott defines a sizeable contract as between USD $1 million and USD $50 million.

The offshore services company will carry out the work in its Center of Engineering Excellence in Kuala Lumpur. The FEED is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2020.

McDermott in June 2018, in consortium with BHGE, signed a 30 billion won contract is to develop eight additional production wells to ensure POSCO DAEWOO’s stable subsea gas development in Myanmar.

Under the contract, the McDermott-BHGE consortium agreed to install subsea production facilities, subsea gas pipelines, and underwater production controllers to develop a total of eight subsea wells, four in the Shwe gas field and the other four in the ShwePhyu gas field.
