Nautilus Marine Services hires new managing director

Nautilus Marine Services PLC has announced the appointment of John Payne as a managing director.

Nautilus, formerly known as Global Energy, is a company focused on building an innovative global offshore inspection and repair group.

The company said on Thursday that Payne’s appointment does not include a PLC board position. The new managing director, a qualified master mariner with over 25 years of experience in the subsea sector, joined the company as a director of operations in August 2016.

Previously, he managed global marine businesses in the offshore energy, renewables, and subsea telecoms sectors. During his international career, he held senior positions in the service delivery, operations, and business development.

Payne formerly held positions as the chief operating officer at Aubin Ltd., an Aberdeen based global specialist chemical provider to the oil and gas sector and as an interim chief executive officer at Hallin Marine, a global subsea services provider based in South East Asia.

Apart from a name change, the company bought 11 offshore subsea service vessels and a barge vessel in January as part of a move to adopt a new strategy that focuses on subsea oilfield services sector in the Gulf of Mexico.

As for the company’s newly acquired fleet, eight vessels were bought from Deepcor Marine and the Rider Barge was delivered by Everest Vessel Holdings. The remaining three offshore subsea service vessels were bought from Everest Hill.
