New Board Director for Saipem

The Board of Directors of Italy’s Saipem has appointed as Director Francesco Gattei replacing Fabrizio Barbieri, who resigned in August.

Francesco Gattei is a non-executive, non-independent Director and he is not member of any internal committee.

He currently holds the position of Senior Vice President Scenarios, Strategic Options & Investor Relations in Eni.

Francesco Gattei was born in Bologna in 1969. After a degree in Economics and Business Administration, with a thesis on the oil market, he attended the “Scuola Mattei” in 1994 and the following year he started working for AGIP (which later became Eni E&P).

Between 1995 and 2001, he dealt mainly with economic evaluations, business development and negotiations for projects in Kazakhstan, Russia and other Central Asian countries.

Thereafter, between 2001 and 2005, he served as negotiations and commercial manager in Libya, participating to negotiations and tenders for the Western Libyan Gas Project.

From 2005 to 2008 he was responsible for business planning for Italy, Africa and the Middle East and later for the Americas and Asian Pacific.

After working as Special Assistant to the E&P COO, he became responsible for the upstream portfolio during the 2009-2010 two-year period.

Between 2010 and 2013, he joined Corporate, where he was responsible for the “Centro Studi Eni”, focusing on scenarios, strategic analysis and economic assessments.

Since October 2013, he was appointed Eni Senior Vice President Investor Relations, a position which aligned IR activities with Scenarios and Strategic Options.

Francesco Gattei holds no shares in Saipem.
