Ningbo Marine Orders Bulker Trio

Shanghai-listed dry bulk operator Ningbo Marine has ordered three handysize bulk carriers at China’s Jinling Shipyard thus pushing ahead with its fleet renewal.

The three vessels feature 49,500 in DWT capacity each and are worth a total of USD 81.5 million, the company said in a filing to Shanghai stock exchange.

The shipping arm of Zhejiang Energy plans to employ the newbuild trio on coastal coal transport.

The vessels’ delivery is slated for 2017. Once delivered, Ningbo will have six 49,500 DWT bulkers in its fleet.

The order was announced in September last year when the shipping company revealed plans to add three more bulkers to its newbuild orderbook.

Ningbo has already added three vessels of similar size in 2012 built by China Shipping Industry (Jiangsu) Co.
