Nominees for the Offshore Energy Awards 2018 announced

The high-level jury reviewed all the submitted nominees. The 3 submissions, per award, who scored the highest points are now the official Award Nominees for 2018.

The winners will be announced during the Offshore Energy Opening Gala Dinner and Awards Show on Monday, October 22.

Public Outreach Award Nominees

The jury found the following submitted projects to be examples of outstanding achievements in the field of public outreach. The three best submissions and thereby nominees for The Offshore Energy Public Outreach Award are:

• EnTranCe – Hanze University Groningen
• Nexstep – represented by NOGEPA
• Buccaneer Delft

Other submissions came from TNO, The Social and Economic Council op the Netherlands (SER), 10XL, NAM B.V. and The East of England Energy Group (EEEGR).

The jury for the Public Outreach Award consists of: Didi te Gussinklo Ohmann (Project Director, Van Oord Offshore Wind), Saskia Tates (General Counsel, ENGIE E&P), Sander Vergroesen (Managing Director, IRO), Jo Peters (Secretary General, NOGEPA) and Frits Loomeijer (Independent Content Developer specializing in Maritime Culture).

Young Engineer Award Nominees

The jury expressed that the level of talent in this industry is very high. The three young professionals who demonstrated outstanding achievements in the offshore energy industry and therefore have been nominated for the Offshore Energy Young Engineer Award are:

• Marius Ottolini – Heerema Marine Contractors
• Kevin van der Leur – Van Oord
• Rik van der Kant – Bosch Rexroth B.V.

Other submissions came from Skoon Energy B.V., Siri Marine, Royal IHC, Economic Development Board, Mocean Offshore B.V., and Bayards Aluminium Constructions.

The jury for the Young Engineer Award consists of: Robert Plat (Principal Consultant Offshore, Royal IHC), Jan van der Tempel (Owner, De Oude Bibliotheek Academy), Jaap den Ouden (Owner, Den Ouden Waterside Industries B.V.), Bernard Alblas (Chairman, Young IRO) and Dries Lammens (Marine Design Engineer, Jan de Nul and Young Engineer Award Winner 2017).

Best Innovation in Offshore Energy Award Nominees

Out of the large amount of submissions the jury found three projects the most impressive to compete for the title of the Best Innovation in Offshore Energy Award 2018. The three best submissions and thereby nominees are:

• OASYS – ECE Offshore B.V.
• S. Offshore wind feeder solution – Barge Master & GustoMSC
• Combi Lifting Spread – IHC IQIP

Other submissions came from Siri Marine, Safeway B.V., Eagle-Access B.V., SMST Designers & Constructors B.V., Ampelmann, Onboard | FE Solutions B.V., Huisman Equipment B.V., Zentech Incorporated, ABS, Van Beest, MODU Data Exchange, Paradigm Technology Services B.V., FLASC, Saipem Limited, Dockstr AB and DEME Group N.V.

The jury for the Best Innovation in Offshore Energy Award consists of: Joop Roodenburg (CEO, Huisman), Saskia Rijtema (COO, Heerema Marine Contractors), Ronald Quik (Sr. Sector M&A Manager, ABN AMRO Bank N.V.), Jasper Vis (Country Manager NL, Ørsted) and Karel Roozen (Co-Founder, Next Ocean and Best Innovation Award winner 2017).

In the following weeks the jury will discuss the final submissions and select the Award winners. The winners will be announced during the Offshore Energy Opening Gala Dinner and Awards Show on Monday 22 October in the impressive National Maritime Museum (Scheepvaartmuseum) in Amsterdam.

In addition to the awards ceremony, this black tie gala evening will serve a culinary dinner with musical interludes from Jennifer Ewbank and speeches by dignitaries. The evening will be hosted by Victoria Koblenko.
