Norway: Bad weather delays offshore flights

Offshore helicopter flights in Norway have been either cancelled or delayed today due to rough weather offshore.

ConocoPhillips has, through Heliport.no, informed that due to thunder and lighting, flights to Ekofisk complex in the North Sea are delayed until further notice.

According to Stavanger’s Aftenbladet, 400 ConocoPhillips’ oil workers have been affected by the delays.

Workers at Heimdal, Sleipner and Ula installations in the North Sea have also been affected.

Heliport.no data shows that several helicopters have departed from the Bergen airport, following significant delays.

Also, Heliport.no shows that helicopter flights from Stavanger airport, Sola are experiencing heavy delays too.

Offshore Energy Today has contacted the provider of the Heliport.no data, seeking more information, but did not receive a response.

Update: 14:45, December 8, 2014

In a response to Offshore Energy Today, DaWinci, the provider of the database used by Heliport.no, has informed that two flights have departed from the Stavanger airport today, both after 14:00 hrs Norwegian time. The rest is currently on hold due to bad weather.
