Norway: Det Norske Gets Go-Ahead for Steingeita Drilling

Det Norske Gets Go-Ahead for Steingeita Drilling

Det norske has been given the approval by the Norwegian authorities to drill the Steingeita prospect, in production license 460. Det norske was awarded the license in the 2007 Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) round.

The well is located in the central part of the North Sea, some 175 kilometers west of Bergen and about 31 kilometers north of Heimdal. The water depth is 102 meters.

Drilling is expected to start in the second quarter 2012, with an estimated duration of about 40 days.

Steingeita is located about six kilometers north of Storklakken, in which Det norske has previously made an oil discovery. The main objective of Steingeita drilling is to prove the oil that can be produced via Storklakken, and thus improving the economics of the project.

Det norske has a 100 percent interest in production license 460.
