Odfjell Drilling bags North Sea gig from TAQA

TAQA Bratani, a UK subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), has awarded Odfjell Drilling a contract for platform drilling and maintenance services on five of its platforms in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The contract period is two years, with additional yearly options, Odfjell Drilling said in an Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Monday.

The contract is planned to start in the third quarter of this year.

Odfjell Drilling is currently performing platform drilling operations for BP on the UK continental shelf and will further start operations on the Mariner platform for Statoil in 2018.

TAQA operates five platforms in the UK North Sea, Cormorant Alpha, Eider, North Cormorant, Tern Alpha, and Harding. These produce from 13 fields spread across the Northern North Sea and the Central North Sea.

TAQA also owns equity in fields which are operated by others in the Central North Sea.
