OEG Offshore Opens Office in Houston

Aberdeen-based oil services group OEG Offshore (OEG) has launched a subsidiary in Houston to expand its operations in the Americas, increasing its worldwide network.

OEG Offshore LLC (OEG US) will supply clients in the offshore oil and gas industry with specialist, pressurised A60 engineering cabins, containers and baskets.

The firm has invested £1.02 million ($1.5 million USD) in a base for operations in the US and South America, with an office located in Houston’s West Chase district and an initial 100 unit fleet also based in Houston and Houma, Louisiana.

Larry Bobbitt has been appointed as President of OEG US and will be responsible for developing its existing clientbase. Larry has more than 30 years’ experience in the maritime and petroleum industry and a vast knowledge of the US Gulf market and its customers.

Craig Russell, OEG’s Commercial Director, said: “Larry’s knowledge of the region’s customer base and the local marketplace will be hugely beneficial for the development of OEG. His role will involve promoting the OEG Offshore brand and product ranges to both new and existing customers – in the USA, Mexico and as far south as Brazil.

“OEG Offshore chose Houston as the site for its third global hub because of its importance as a strategic location from which to target the offshore oil and gas industry. For the past three years, customer demand for our services in the Gulf of Mexico has been met by exporting our units through agents in Canada and the US. The level of demand for our products has continued to grow, particularly among major operators in the area, and the next natural step was to launch a base in Houston.”

“OEG continues to develop as an international business and the Houston office is part of a global strategy to provide our customers with an on-the-ground service. The Houston base is the latest addition to our worldwide network that can link up with our Singapore, Perth and Aberdeen offices and we are confident that this venture will equal the success of our other international bases.”

Larry Bobbitt added: “I am looking forward to working with OEG and playing a part in the company’s ambitions to become an international leader in the container and module industry. OEG has an excellent reputation for high quality, and the globally-recognised DNV standard it attains for its units will reassure customers who are looking for safe, reliable products. In addition, OEG’s successes in Europe, Australia and the APac region will give the business a solid ground from which to develop its US operations.”
