Pertamina and TotalEnergies to cooperate on use of Arun LNG

Indonesian state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has signed a terminal use agreement with French energy major TotalEnergies for the utilisation of the Arun LNG hub in 2021.

Arun LNG receiving and regasification terminal is located in Lhokseumawe, Indonesia. Perta Arun Gas, a subsidiary of Pertamina, is the operator.

Previously an LNG export plant, Pertamina converted it into a regasification terminal in 2015.

Currently, the terminal has four LNG tank units with a total capacity of 508,000 cubic metres (127,000 m3 each tank).

Under the new agreement, TotalEnergies will use two tanks at the terminal to store LNG from international sources as part of its global marketing strategy.

The agreement was signed on 10 August 2021. Later, Pertamina Group and Total management further discussed it virtually on 19 August 2021.

Moreover, according to Pertamina, the first LNG carrier under this agreement will arrive in September.
