Pertamina Starts Work on Arun LNG Import Project

Malaysia’s Pertamina said it has begun construction work on a liquefied natural gas storage and regasification terminal in Arun, Aceh. The work is expected to be complete in 2014, the company said in a statement.

The LNG project is designed to have a total capacity of 400 mmscfd or equal to 3 million tons a year.

Malaysia’s Arun terminal will be the first LNG export terminal converted into import terminal. The project would be run by Perta Arun Gas, a company 70 percent owned by Pertamina (through PT Pertamina Gas) and 30 percent by a company belonging to the Aceh administration.
