Petronas lays keel for second FLNG

Malaysia’s Petronas laid the keel for its second floating LNG facility at Samsung Heavy Industry’s shipyard on Geoje Island, South Korea at the end of October.

The keel laying ceremony marked the start of the construction phase of the PFLNG2 with a collective weight of 134,000 tonnes, the company said in a statement on Friday.

The second floating LNG facility for Petronas will be used for the liquefaction, production and offloading of natural gas in the Rotan field, 130 kilometers offshore Sabah.

PFLNG2, with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa), is expected to commission in 2018.
