Petronas Names New Head of Upstream Business (Malaysia)

Malaysia’s Petronas announced today the appointment of Datuk Mohd Anuar as the VP and CEO of development and production.  In this position, he will head the upstream development and production division of Petronas in Malaysia as well as in 23 countries worldwide.

Datuk Mohd Anuar is a well engineer by discipline. He joined Shell in 1990 and has been in various technical and business development positions throughout Asia and the United States.

Until 30 June 2012, he will serve as VP Malaysia, Upstream International and Chairman of Shell Malaysia.

Datuk Mohd Anuar will be taking over the portfolio from Datuk Abdullah Karim, who is appointed the Vice President & Venture Director, LNG Projects – Domestic, under Petronas’ Gas & Power Business. In this new capacity, Datuk Abdullah will be responsible for the delivery of Petronas’ LNG projects in Malaysia.

“The Board of Directors congratulates both Datuk Mohd Anuar and Datuk Abdullah and is confident that both portfolios will achieve greater successes under their respective leaderships​,” said Petronas in a statement.
