Petronas subcontracts Alam for PFLNG-1 positioning and mooring

Malaysia’s Petronas has subcontracted Alam Maritim Resources for works on its Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project. Alam will take part in final positioning and mooring system hook-up works.

Alam Maritim Resources Berhad has won a subcontract from Petronas’ subsidiary, Petronas Floating LNG 1 (L) Ltd (PFLL).

According to Alam, the works include flexible riser installation, precommissioning and commissioning of the pipeline, pipeline ends terminal (PLET) and riser from KAKG platform in Kanowit field to FLNG for Petronas’ Floating LNG-1 (PFLNG-1) project. Alam said that the value of the contract was RM53.5 million ($12.4M).

Alam added that the estimated duration for the subcontract is from June 15, 2015, until April 30, 2016.

The 365 meter-long and 60 meter-wide FLNG facility will be moored in Malaysia’s Kanowit gas field, 180 kilometers offshore Sarawak.

The facility, scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015, will be the world’s first floating LNG facility in operation.
