PSA audits barrier management on Statfjord C

From 23 to 25 April 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of Statoil’s barrier management at Statfjord C.

The objective of the audit was to review whether Statoil’s management and monitoring of barriers was in accordance with the company’s and statutory requirements, so as to reduce the likelihood of failures.

The audit resulted in non-conformities which were identified in connection with: Risk analysis; Evacuation routes; Risk reduction and risk analyses in the main plan.

In addition, improvement points were identified in connection with: Barriers; Fire water; Area risk charts; Non-conformity handling; Valves.

Statfjord C platform is located in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.
