PSA audits Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen management (Norway)

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has carried out an audit of how Statoil organises safe materials handling in the development project for the Aasta Hansteen platform in the Norwegian Sea.

PSA audits Statoil's Aasta Hansteen (Norway)

Statoil is the operator on the Aasta Hansteen field, which is in the Norwegian Sea, approximately 140 km north of Norne and around 300 km west of Bodø. The field has been developed using a floating integrated facility, which also has the capability to be the field centre for other, future discoveries in the area.

On 6 June 2014, the PSA carried out an audit in the form of the meeting with Statoil to monitor how the company is arranging for the design of the facility to reduce the need for lifting operations and to ensure that lifting operations can be performed safely.

No non-conformities or improvement points were identified during the audit. The audit report does however include some comments on matters that Statoil should take into consideration.
