Santos GLNG Project Over 80 Pct Complete

The US$18.5 billion Santos GLNG project is over 80% complete and on track for first LNG in 2015.

Santos of Australia, the operator of the LNG project on Curtis island, said in a presentation on its website that over 560 wells have been drilled as part of the GLNG project up to date. Santos expects to drill about 300 wells over 2014-15 and 200-300 wells per year over 2016-20.

The company is currently preparing for hydrostatic testing of the first GLNG tank which is planned for early July.

The GLNG jetty is over 95% complete with the installation of quick release mooring hooks, capstans, fenders, vessel access gangway tower and loading arms completed.

According to Santos, about 3,400 people are currently working on the GLNG plant and port.
