Malaysia’s Sarawak state government has entered negotiations with Petronas to acquire a 10 percent stake in the ninth liquefaction train at the company’s Bintulu LNG complex.

Sarawak’s chief minister, Abang Zohari was reported by Reuters as saying the government is actively negotiating the details of the agreement with Petronas.

He added that the government is also eyeing a larger stake in the MLNG Dua facility.

Commercial operations at the Train 9 of Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak started in early January this year.

With the addition of the Train 9, the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak now has the capacity to produce approximately 30 million tons per year.
