Sen. Barrasso welcomes Jordan Cove LNG DEIS

U.S. Senator John Barrasso released a statement regarding FERC’s publication of its draft environmental impact statement for the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal.

Barrasso said, “This positive environmental review proves we can move forward with the Jordan Cove LNG export project while protecting our environment. We are now one step closer to creating more jobs and exporting Rocky Mountain natural gas to international markets. It’s great news for Wyoming, Indian tribes, our economy and allies who are desperate to buy U.S. natural gas. FERC should now complete its final review as soon as possible so this important energy project can become a reality.”

The Jordan Cove LNG export terminal, located in Coos Bay, Oregon, is the only LNG export project that will provide natural gas producers in Rocky Mountain states access to international markets, as noted in FERC’s draft EIS.

On March 24, 2014, the Department of Energy approved a conditional license to Jordan Cove to export LNG to nations that do not have free trade agreements with the United States.
