Spirit Energy hires former EnQuest exec for technical director role

Spirit Energy, a new company formed through a merger between Centrica’s E&P business and Bayerngas Norge, has appointed a new technical and HSE director.

Spirit Energy appointed Neil McCulloch as the company’s new technical and HSE director. He succeeded Ken Robertson, who joined Spirit’s board.

McCulloch held leadership roles across both operated and non-operated assets in Europe and joined Spirit Energy from EnQuest where he held the position of executive director and chief operating officer until recently.

He also worked as a senior vice president of engineering and production at OMV, as well as 11 years of asset and functional leadership roles at BG Group. He is currently a non-executive director at the Oil and Gas Innovation Centre.

Regarding his appointment, McCulloch said: “It is an exciting time to be a part of Spirit Energy, as the business continues to develop and cement its position as one of Europe’s leading independent oil and gas operators.

“Now more than ever, the oil and gas industry needs agile players like Spirit investing in its future, and I am looking forward to joining the team and playing my part in the company’s growth and success.”

Chris Cox, chief executive of Spirit Energy, added: “I am delighted to welcome Neil to Spirit Energy – he brings a wealth of experience to the business, which will be vital as we look to safely maximize the potential of our existing assets and bring an exciting portfolio of exploration and development opportunities on stream.

“I would also like to thank Ken for his tremendous contribution to our business over the years, and for his ongoing leadership and counsel as part of our board.”
