Top Ships Adds Sixth and Final MR Tanker

Greece-based tanker owner and operator Top Ships has taken delivery of its sixth and final newbuild vessel, the 50,000 dwt fuel efficient ECO MR product tanker M/T Nord Valiant.

The ship, which features a length of 183.1 meters and a width of 32.2 meters, was constructed by Vietnam’s Hyundai Vinashin yard.

The vessel is now expected to start working for Danish shipping company Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S (Norden) under a 5-year contract for a charter hire rate of USD 16,800 per day, according to data provided by Top Ships.

“The six vessel newbuilding program, which started in 2014, is now successfully completed. Our business strategy continues to be focused on further expanding our fleet, with solid ships and solid counter-parties,” Evangelos Pistiolis, President and CEO, said.

In April 2016, Top Ships secured financing for M/T Nord Valiant as it entered into a senior secured facility with an undisclosed northern European bank.

The company did not reveal any further details on the deal.

According to VesselsValue, the tanker’s market value stands at USD 30.7 million.
