Uljanik Launches Scenic Eclipse

Croatian shipbuilder Uljanik has launched Scenic Eclipse, a luxury cruise vessel ordered by PEC Limited, part of Australia-based company Scenic.

The 10,000 gross ton newbuilding was launched at the Uljanik Shipyard JSC in Pula on January 31, 2018.

Ordered in 2015, the vessel will be able to accommodate 237 passengers and 172 crew members.

The keel-laying ceremony for Scenic Eclipse — described by Scenic as the world’s first discovery yacht — took place at the abovementioned shipyard on April 28.

The 168-meter-long cruise ship will have a rating of Ice Class 1A ^ (Polar Class 6), enabling the navigation through Arctic and Antarctic waters.

As informed by Uljanik, the ship is being built under the supervision of the Bureau Veritas Croatia.

Starting on August 31, 2018, Scenic Eclipse will embark on its maiden voyage before sailing to the Americas, Antarctica, Europe and the Mediterranean as well as to the Arctic and Norwegian Fjords.

During its maiden voyage, the newbuilding will sail from Athens to Venice, according to Scenic.
