VIDEO: ‘Ocean Vanguard’ takes Likouf FPU to West Africa

Following a recent start-up of Total’s Moho Nord field offshore Gabon, Boskalis has shared a video of the transportation of the Moho Nord field’s FPU Likouf.

Boskalis claims the transport of the 80,500 ton Floating Production Unit (FPU) Likouf onboard the Dockwise Vanguard semi-submersible vessel, from South Korea to Gabon is a world record.

The Dockwise Vanguard semi-submersible heavy transport vessel is the biggest vessel of its type in the world at 275 meters long and 70 meters wide.

While breaking records, it is worth noting that the Likouf FPU did not max out the Vanguard’s capacity. Namely, the Ocean Vanguard is capable of carrying objects weighing up to 110,000 tons.

The Likouf FPU has been deployed at the Moho Nord field offshore Congo.

The field has been developed through 34 wells tied back to a new tension leg platform, the first for Total in Africa, and to Likouf. The oil is processed on Likouf and then exported by pipeline to the Djeno onshore terminal, also operated by Total.
