Viking Poseidon Vessel Involved in Work at U.S. Gulf of Mexico

Eidesvik can confirm that Viking Poseidon is involved in work at the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) off the coast of Louisianan.

Recently, Viking Poseidon was the vessel that lowered the second top hat device as an attempt to stop the leakage from the well.

Viking Poseidon has been mentioned in a number of articles and blogs world wide as being the vessel used for the crucial subsea operations on the seabed.

Viking Poseidon is an ULSTEIN SX121 designed and built by Ulstein Group. The offshore construction vessel was delivered to Eidesvik AS in 2008, and is chartered by Veolia ES Special Services Inc. Viking Poseidon is equipped to perform subsea construction and equipment installation (OCV) as well as inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) and ROV services.

Here are some links to articles that refer to Viking Poseidon’s work in the GOM.
