VOS Sugar subsea support vessel named in Ijmuiden

Vroon Offshore Services christened its subsea support vessel VOS Sugar, at a ceremony held in Ijmuiden, a port city in the Dutch province of North Holland, on Thursday.

The vessel was named by Monita Horn, Operations and Chartering Administrator at Vroon Offshore Services Den Helder.

VOS Sugar is a DP2, SPS-coded, 68-metre subsea-support vessel (SSV) and one of two newbuilding SSVs to have been constructed at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China.

The subsea support vessel arrived in Amsterdam earlier this month. Following installation of an active heave-compensated crane, it is now ready to start her first charter in the subsea-support market.

To remind, another subsea support vessel, VOS Star, is set to join Vroon’s fleet soon. The vessel left the shipyard in China on April 17, and is now on its way to the North Sea.
