Wagenborg Offshore's Ice-Breaking Support Vessel Almost Completed

At Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl, the Ice-Breaking Multipurpose Support Vessel Sanaborg for Wagenborg Offshore is being finished.

Delivery is scheduled in early August. The Sanaborg and the forthcoming Serkeborg (launched June 28 with delivery early September) are the first of a series of icebreakers suitable for shallow waters, that are deployed in the Caspian Sea.

The vessels are specifically designed for logistics services to the oil and gas in shallow water and ice. The propulsion of the IMSV is done by two Caterpillar 3516C-TierII 2000ekW diesel generator sets, electric two rotating propellers (Icepods) drive. The Icepods were developed with Wärtsilä especially for this application.
