Wellesley takes ‘Deepsea Bergen’ in one-well deal

Following a letter of intent in April, offshore driller Odfjell Drilling has now signed a contract with Wellesley Petroleum for the semi-submersible drilling rig Deepsea Bergen.

In its Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Friday, Odfjell Drilling said it has signed the contract with the Norwegian oil and gas explorer for one firm exploration well offshore Norway.

The deal also includes an optional well testing and sidetrack.

The contract start is scheduled to 3Q or 4Q 2017 and will be followed by a contract on Norwegian Continental Shelf with OMV Norge for a one firm high pressure high temperature (HPHT) well plus options for two wells.

Deepsea Bergen is now working for Faroe before re-starting the Statoil contract and complete the remaining drilling program of one well at contract dayrate.
