The Arctic LNG 2 project is located in the Gydan peninsula in West Siberia, Russia. The module fabrication contract was awarded to Wison by TechnipFMC.

TechnipFMC was awarded a major engineering, procurement, and construction contract by Novatek for the Arctic LNG 2 project back in July 2019. TechnipFMC’s share of work covers the EPC of the three LNG trains and associated topsides, which will be manufactured on a modular basis in Asian and Russian yards.

The Arctic LNG 2 project comprises three LNG trains at 6.6 million tons per annum each. Wison’s work scope is engineering, procurement, fabrication, and commissioning of modules in train one with a total weight of 48,000 MT.

Wison said on Wednesday that it had achieved the first cutting milestone ahead of schedule, which may make savings on time and cost in the project execution.

An Wenxin, Chief Operating Officer of WOM, said: “Wison Offshore & Marine is committed to delivering innovative monetization solutions across LNG value chain and high-quality onshore and offshore module construction services for the global energy industry, and providing customers with integrated EPCIC and operation services that meet the highest international quality and safety standards.”

It is also worth mentioning that Italy’s Saipem in August joined the JV for the realization of the Arctic LNG 2 project with a share worth approximately €2.2 billion.
