Woodside buys licence for Completion Services software

The Australian oil company Woodside Petroleum has chosen to buy license to use the Completion String Design (CSD) software for its well completion operations.

The CSD software is licensed by Completion Services, a well completion and software solutions business based in Stavanger, Norway.

Woodside has selected CSD to handle all well schematics in one centralized database and take care of well history and well related documentation.

Gard Karlsen, managing director and co-founder of CSD said: “It is extremely exciting to get a new customer in Australia. Oil Search Limited in Sydney is already using CSD but I think that the fact that Woodside Petroleum in the oil capital Perth has chosen CSD will be noticed in the Australian market. I’m also pleased to see that Woodside Petroleum has understood that collecting well schematics and well data in one centralized can save them both time and money.”

Karlsen added that the company had gotten several new customers in 2015 despite of the conditions the industry is in. He further said that the majority of Norwegian operators were already using CSD so it is only natural that the new customers in 2015 would be in countries such as Denmark, Nigeria, Malaysia and Australia.

Installation at Woodside Petroleum will take place in December and the implementation project will carry on into the first few months of 2016.
