Yemen LNG No Casualties or Damage After Rocket Attack

A rocket attack on Yemen’s only LNG export terminal in Balhaf did not cause any casualties or damage, Yemen LNG said in a statement on Friday.

Yemen LNG confirms that today, Friday, 31st January 2014, at around 02:30am, a blast sounded offshore the Balhaf Plant, coming from a rocket-launched explosive device. There were no casualties or damage. The Balhaf Plant remains in operation,” the company said.

Security measures have been reinforced in order to ensure vigilant surveillance of the plant and vicinity. In addition, Yemen LNG is working with the Yemeni Authorities to take further measures around Balhaf in order to ensure maximum security of people and assets on site,” Yemen LNG added.

The Yemen LNG project has three long-term contracts to supply LNG to GDF Suez, Kogas and Total Gas & Power for a total of 6.7 Mtpa.
