A major British container-ship company is talking with potential buyers about a $1 billion-plus deal to be acquired.

CP Ships Ltd. has not identified any potential buyers but one analyst, David Newman of Canada’s National Bank Financial, said CP Ships could fetch $15 to $19 a share, or a total of $1.35 billion to $1.71 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
