If Elvah Jones had the strength, the 87-year-old says she would swim the 24 miles behind tow boats that will carry the USS Oriskany to its grave in the Gulf of Mexico this month. Her memories mean that much. The last time Jones saw her son, 24-year-old Navy Lt. Ralph Foulks Jr., was aboard the aircraft carrier on a twilight cruise around San Francisco Bay. She bid him farewell before he left for Vietnam.
