Excluding Iran and Sudan, the worldwide rig count for May increased 368 to 2,795 from 2,427 counted in the last year. Worldwide land rig count in May increased to 2,417 from 2,117 counted in the previous year, and from 2,341 counted in the month of April. May offshore rig count rose to 378 from 368 in the year ago month, and 349 in the previous month of April.
