Raytheon’s refreshed version of the MK 2 Ship Self Defense System has passed U.S. Navy open architecture qualifying testing.

The MK 2 system, known by its initials SSDS, can now be used in warship combat-management systems that meet the Navy’s Open Architecture Computing Environment standard.

“This next-generation combat management system advances the level of reliability, maintainability, and coordinated combat direction to today’s sailors,” said Raytheon Vice President Dan Martin. “The open systems design delivers the common capabilities consistent with the Navy’s ‘Family of Ships’ strategy.”
