70 years after the start of the famous ‘Wageningen B-Series’ , MARIN will measure the open water characteristics of a new systematic propeller series. This new series comprises controllable pitch propellers (CPP’s). In total 18 open propellers and 6 ducted propellers will be tested.

Thrust, torque and blade spindle torque will be measured for all quadrants of operation, i.e. forward and reverse speed and positive and negative pitch setting.

As the characteristics of CPP’s deviate from fixed pitch propellers , these results are in particular relevant for dynamic positioning, manoeuvring and towing/pushing operations. The work is conducted in a Joint Industry Project which is still open for participation.
