World-leading navigational systems provider Kelvin Hughes has announced a one day maritime safety seminar to be held in Athens on Thursday 20 October. ‘Safe Ships, Safer Seas’ will take place at the Apollon Divani Spa Hotel, Vouliagmeni, and is set to be a must-attend event for local shipowners, managers and charterers.

With over 100 Greek shipping executives expected, Safe Ships, Safer Seas will focus on three essential industry topics: Maritime Security and Piracy, ECDIS and eNavigation and Future Bridge Technology.

Following a keynote address from Mr George D. Gourdomichalis, President and MD of G. Bros Maritime S.A and President of Piraeus Marine Club, the seminar will include presentations from Kelvin Hughes’ team of global experts as well as representatives from V Ships, FLIR, Tsavliris Salvage Group, KCL and Dan Pillich Consulting.

Speaking this week, Kelvin Hughes CEO Russell Gould said: “ Working with customers all over the world, we are in a good position to understand the issues that are important to them, and as such we know that maritime security, increased piracy attacks and the IMO’s 2012 Mandate of ECDIS in particular, are topics that need to be addressed. Safe Ships, Safer Seas will enable us to do that in an open forum.”

Mr Gould continued; “At Kelvin Hughes, we are able to offer integrated market solutions that enable more efficient, safe operation through a global network. We chose Athens as the location for this first seminar because the Greek market is one that plays an important role in shaping the wider industry. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the 20th.”

Following the seminar, delegates can take part in up-close, hands on demonstrations of Kelvin Hughes’ MantaDigital ECDIS and its latest electronic navigation technology for threat detection.
