Since the owners of m/v “New Champion” was quite satisfied with the repair quality of CIC-Shipyards, they decided to award its sister vessel “Lumoso Karunia” to CIC Boluomiao Shipyard again. The yard overcame all kinds of difficulties, organized labor force and finished the extensive steel renewal project.

The main work included the derusting & painting of 7 cargo holds and deck, the pipeline renewal and the repair of 4 deck cranes, as well as the steel renewal of more than 600 tons i.w.o. the tank top, TST, DBT, hatch coaming, FPT & APT. Therefore, the yard made a careful preparation for this project mainly based on the extensive & complicated steel renewal. Every workshop arranged the detailed plan and took the measure for safety requirements. The persons in charge followed up the project progress to settle the difficulties timely and contacted with the owners closely so that to solve the problem immediately. Meanwhile, since there were lots of overlapping jobs to be carried out, the yard instructed the subcontractors to work day and night according to the key projects and time schedule. This strategy ensured the projects finished safely on schedule.

On Dec 8th, the steel renewal of DBTs was almost completed before the vessel’s docking. On Dec. 15th, the steel renewal in dock of approx. 30 tons and regular dock repair were finished. After the ship undocking, the hydraulic pressure test of DBTs and the derusting & painting of the cargo holds were operated by turns. On Dec 22nd, the derusting & painting for deck and the test of deck crane were completed. On Dec 24th, the water blasting of 6 DBTs passed the inspection and the testing of hatch covers was completed, too. On Dec 25th, after the inspection and approved by NK surveyor of the water ingress alarm system, the whole repair was wrapped up successfully.
