Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Work has started construction of two tugboats for the Pakistan Navy. The ceremony was held at the KSEW on Friday, where Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects) Rear Admiral Shafqat Javed was the chief guest.

In his welcome address, Managing Director KSEW Rear Admiral Hassan Nasir Shah apprised the audience that the Karachi shipyard would undertake all endeavours to deliver both the naval vessels ahead of schedule.

He also said that the construction of F-22 P frigates, missile crafts, pressure hull of Agosta 90-B submarines, coastal tankers and utility ships constituted the salient features of indigenization policy of the Pakistan Navy. He assured the KSEW administration of all possible support during this critical phase of its revitalisation in order to achieve timely materialization of future maritime construction plans.

Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects) Rear Admiral Shafqat Javed expressed his confidence that the KSEW would not only meet the requirements of the PN, but it also has the capacity to undertake projects of other maritime organizations like the Pakistan Naval Shipping Corporation, the Karachi Port Trust and the Port Qasim Authority
