U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will soon commence a $15.8 million beach renourishment project between Key Biscayne and Miami Beach.

The first phase of the beach restoration is set to start in the last week of February and it will include dredging of approximately 250,000 cubic yards of sand from a borrow pit off Key Biscayne. The sand will then be pumped through a buried pipeline to the beach between 63rd and 69th streets, where it will be spread. These dredging works will be completed by April.

During the second phase, scheduled to begin in May, about 107,000 cubic yards of sand already on the beach between 10th and 18th streets will be spread onto an eroded section between 27th and 44th streets. These activities will end in November.
