Transformation of Mersing into an attractive tourist destination under a RM22 billion eco-tourism project is expected to be completed in seven years, reports Bernama.

Ungku Safian Abdullah, the chief executive officer of Radiant Starfish Bhd, the master developer of the project, has stated that creation of three islands off the coast of Mersing will start today and is scheduled to be completed within 36 months.

Radiant Starfish has signed agreements with Sinohydro Group Limited, YPJ Holdings Sdn Bhd, Shengrong International Group Co Limited and CIMB Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd.

According to Ungku Safian, Sinohydro, one of the biggest dredging and reclamation companies in the world, will be in charge of carrying out the reclamation works to create 2,000 acres of land.
