Scorpio Tankers Inc has signed a contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd. of South Korea (HMD) to construct a 52,000 DWT MR product tanker for $36.0 million, which will be the Company’s eighth 52,000 DWT MR product tanker ordered from HMD.
The eighth newbuilding is scheduled to be delivered to the Company in May 2013.
Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co , one of HHI’s subsidiaries, is a shipbuilder of medium-sized vessels such as product/chemical carrier, bulk carrier, container carrier, PCTC, Con/Ro-Ro vessel, LPG carrier, General Cargo Carrier, Asphalt Carrier, offshore units and specialized vessels.
