The repair works for MV “Ho Hae” have been successfully completed by CIC Lixin Shipyard on March 28th 2012. The vessel is a bulk carrier owned by a South Korean company.
The scope of repairs included the renewal of the side shell, cargo hold frame, bulwark with bracket iwo pt. & st. of No.1 cargo hold, forecastle deck, boat deck and davit partly renewal. The repairs were planned to last 7 days with ho time for docking the vessel, which brought many difficulties for the shell plate renewal job.
Firstly, the plate located 3 meters up from bilge keel with big curve. Secondly, it’s very dangerous to build up a staging upon the water. Considering the related difficulties, the engineering department arranged one special meeting in situ, analyzing the feasibility of carrying out the job outside a dock. The yard came out with a plan for safe and reliable staging and plate renewal.
Finally, all the work was completed as planned under the great endeavor of each department.
