Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES with president Mr. Yasuhiko Katoh) has recently received an order of container handling cranes for Gemlik Terminal and Gebze Terminal, Turkey from Yilport Container Terminal and Port Operators Inc. (Yilport).

Yilport Container Terminal and Port Operators Inc. (Yilport) is a 100% subsidiary company of Yildirim Holding Inc. (Yildirim) dealing with import/export of coal, iron ore, fertilizer as well as shipping.

The order is for 8 container cranes, consisting of four container cranes in Gemlik Terminal and four container cranes in Gebze Terminal, and their deliveries are expected in February 2014 for Gemlik Terminal and August 2014 for Gebze Terminal.

Gemlik Terminal is located 70km south of Istanbul and is now under construction, of which completion is expected January 2014, while Gebze Terminal is located about 40km south east of Istanbul and is being expanded, of which completion is expected April 2014. MES has already delivered four container cranes and eighteen RTG cranes to this terminal, of which performance was highly appreciated to bring about the ordering cranes this time.

High economic growth is foresee in Turkey where cargo transport is increasing year by year and container cranes to cope with large size container carrier were needed. Container cranes intended to Gemlik and Gebze terminals can cope with large size container carriers of twenty-three tiers.
