One of South Korea’s top five shipbuilders, SPP Shipbuilding Co., announced on Wednesday that it has secured a $120 million contract for the construction of two mid-sized anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels.
As Yonhap News Agency reports, SPP Shipbuilding said that the 90-meter vessels will be equipped with the so-called dynamic positioning system, a computer-controlled system to automatically maintain a vessel’s position and heading.
The contract, signed with a European owner, did not disclose any other information except that the delivery of the vessels will be completed in the second half of 2013.
