The Polish Defense Ministry and representatives of the shipbuilding consortium, comprising three polish yards Remontowa Shipbuilding, Naval Shipyard Gdynia SA and CTM SA have signed a contract for the construction of three new minesweepers of the CORMORANT II type.

The deal was inked in the presence of the Polish Prime Minister Mr. Donald Tusk, Minister of National Defence Mr. Tomasz Siemoniak and the Under Secretary of State in MOD for Armament and Modernization Mr. Waldemar Skrzypczak.

Also, at the ceremony another contract was signed for the completion of construction works on patrol boat ORP ‘Slazak’. Construction of the patrol boat started back in 2001 but was never completed. With this new contract the consortium will now be able to finish the vessel.

All vessels should be completed and delivered by the end of 2016.
